Placebooker launches new Booking and Management System for Private Properties
Melbourne, Australia – 11 Jan 2013 – Placebooker, an internet and mobile booking and management service developed in Melbourne for global use was launched today by its founders. Designed to make sharing places easier, the service allows place owners and administrators to share booking and access details with users that they choose. The service has been designed to be used on a range of browsers and mobile devices and customers will be able to sign up any type of place including beach houses, country properties, ski lodges, houseboats, caravans or any shared facility.
Talking at the Melbourne launch, Placebooker Managing Director and Co-Founder, Graeme Robinson explained the inspiration behind the service. “For years my extended family had spent countless hours on the telephone juggling calendars to organise access to our family beach house. I knew there must be a way to allow my family and friends to spend less time and money managing all that. On sharing the idea with others, I found there was strong support for the concept and that a business opportunity existed.”
Placebooker Business Development Director and Co-Founder, Darren Martin, stated “Placebooker is for use in any part of the world where someone has a place they want to share with a closed group of users. Whilst there are systems that allow people to rent places to any internet user, Placebooker specifically restricts access only to the people that our customers give access to. We think there is a niche there and we’re very happy to be taking the Placebooker service to Australia and the world.”
Free of charge until mid 2013, place owners or administrators can sign up for one of three levels of access based on the number of users for a place. “We’ve already trialled and tested the service in a pilot programme but we are keen to get a critical mass of people using Placebooker during the holiday season in Australia before we commence charging. Our future pricing is there for people to see and we believe the prices are competitive particularly given the potential savings in calls and time.” Robinson said. “Moving into the second half of 2013 we expect to launch additional features which will further assist our customers with sharing and managing their places.”
