Our Story, So Far...
A brief history of Placebooker
How it all started
Placebooker began as an idea to make it easier for Graeme Robinson and his extended family to share their beach house in Sorrento, a town in a beautiful part of the Australian coast line. A growing extended family had increased the demand for access to their Sorrento house and the family was spending more and more time on the telephone and juggling calendars to manage access. Graeme knew there must be a way to reduce the time and effort spent managing the place, and there should be more time to enjoy it.
Graeme applied his creativity and experience as a multi-national software development professional toward creating a solution. He developed a prototype application that enabled his family to more easily manage and book the place.
A Concept comes together
Placebooker Pty Ltd was founded in 2011 to commercialise the original prototype. It needed to become a scalable and rock-solid web application built on today's technology and be capable of providing service globally, supporting different geographies and languages.
Darren Martin joined Graeme in early 2011 to take on business development and used his systems, strategy and management experience to further develop the Placebooker concept. Chris Oh joined the team in late 2011 to develop the web user interface. A functioning web application pilot was launched in April 2012 and it was trialled throughout 2012.
Placebooker launched in January 2013
Placebooker was launched in January 2013 for use all over the world by people sharing private properties. This is just the start and an extensive enhancement programme is underway. Placebooker users can look forward to receiving the benefits of loads of great new features as they are progressively introduced.
